✅ Step-by-Step Checklist: Your First Interior in Book Bolt Studio
Before You Start
1. Make sure you have an active Book Bolt account.
2. Decide your basic book settings:
- Trim size (e.g., 6 x 9 or 8.5 x 11)
- Approximate page count (e.g., 100–120 pages)
Step 1: Log in and Open Book Bolt Studio
1. Log in to your Book Bolt account.
2. Open Book Bolt Studio from the main dashboard under the “Create” menu.
Step 2: Create a New Interior Project
1. Click New Project.
2. Enter a Project Name (for example, “My First Interior”).
3. Select your desired Interior as the project type.
4. Choose your trim size and page count.
5. Click Create to open your new project.
Step 3: Choose a Template or Start Blank
1. Open the Templates panel inside Book Bolt Studio.
2. Browse the list of ready-made interiors (such as lined notebooks, planners, and logbooks).
3. Click a simple template to select it, something like a lined notes page is perfect for beginners.
4. Apply it to the current page, or use “Apply to All Pages” if that’s your preference.
Step 4: Customize Your Page
1. Click on the Text tool to add a new text box.
2. Type a title, such as “Notes”, “Daily Journal”, or whatever fits your project.
3. Adjust:
- Font
- Font size
- Alignment (centered text works nicely for titles)
4. (Optional) Click on the shapes/elements tab to find and add elements to your pages, if desired, until the layout feels right.
5. Use the Undo button if you want to cancel your last action.
Step 5: Add, Duplicate, and Reorder Pages
1. In the page thumbnails sidebar (on the left), click on your main page.
2. Use “Duplicate Page” to copy that layout until you reach your target page count.
3. Drag pages up or down to reorder them, if needed.
4. (Optional) Create a second layout (for example, a “Notes” page and a “To-Do” page) and duplicate each one for variety.
Step 6: Save Your Project
1. Click Save in the top menu. Hint: I set mine to “Autosave” so that just in case I forget, my work is automatically saved every few seconds.
2. Wait for confirmation that your project has been saved.
Saving often is a good habit to build, especially when you’re experimenting.
Step 7: Export / Download Your Interior
1. Click Download Project in the top menu.
2. Choose Interior OR Cover and Interior.
3. Confirm any settings and click Download.
4. Save the PDF file to your computer—this is your finished interior file.
Now you’re ready to upload your interior to KDP or any other platform you like.
What to Do Next
Here are a few gentle next steps:
- Open the PDF and scroll through it like a reader.
- Look for anything you’d like to improve next time: spacing, margins, fonts, or page variety.
- Make a quick note of one small change you want to test in your next project.
You don’t have to create the “perfect” interior on your first try. The goal is to get comfortable with the process and build from there.
